Would you start Pablo Prigioni today?

Raymond Felton is the 4th best PG on our roster and maybe the worst lateral defender on the Knicks which includes historically bad defenders like Amare and Bargs.  Anyone who he guards can get by him at will.  He's such a defensive lapse out there I have no idea how he's even seeing the floor much less starting and getting 30 minutes a night.

We have one of the worst 3-pt shooting percentage in the league along with the highest 3-pt attempts in the league. It seems like every time we miss a 3 a team goes on a fastbreak and scores an easy layup. Interesting stat about Bargnani from earlier in the season:

'When he misses from long range, it usually turns into automatic points for the opposing team.

This season, Knicks opponents have grabbed 58 rebounds on jumpers that Bargnani has missed from outside the paint, and 35 of them-a whopping 60.3%-have led to a basket on the other end of the floor. That scoring rate off one player's missed shots is the highest in the NBA."

Now take this and factor in all of Felton/Shump/JR's misses and that's so many easy points for the opposing team. The word is out that none of our players can hit the three consistently (aside from Melo/THJR) and pair that with one of the league's worst transition defense and that spells trouble. Three pointers are obviously not our identity so tell me why we almost lead the league in attempts? Tell me why Raymond doesn't set up our halfcourt offense till 8 seconds left on the shotclock each time? So many holes

it really is a shame what this franchise has come to. wow

If we start a big front line against Garnett, Anderson, and Pierce, it presents issues in matching up. Assume Shump gets Johnson, Melo gets Pierce, and that leaves Bargnani or Chandler on Anderson. Not sure who has an edge in that scenario, but starting Prigioni might be more favorable as he could cover Livingston and Felton could take Anderson.

I hate when Woodson says he needs to match up with other teams and to me that makes no sense. His mindset should be to force other teams to match up withe Knicks so if they want to play small just play small.

Knicks season was done since they played Indiana in the playoffs and Woodson refuse to play Novak or Copeland. Knicks could really use either player because the Andrea experiment is not working.

Let the 10 gm winning streak begin today!

Rodney Stuckey could be traded, that's the kind of guard our team needs right now. Our best offense is when Felton is driving into the paint and working around that.

I would, but for very limited minutes and to see how the 2 PG backcourt works using it for the first time this season.

Prigs cannot play more than 15 minutes.

Also, this has to occur with Chandler as well an Kmart/AB will have to pick up the slack.

If Woodson thinks inserting Prigioni into starting lineup is going to mean anything he's more delusional than i thought. This teams' problems are far too many for a guy like Prigioni to fix. It just reeks of desperation if he puts him to start. I would just bring him of the bench.

Pretty soon Shump's got to be consistent on the court...25  or more minutes per game and 0 points as starting SG is intolerable!

fast_eddie
fast_eddie

Woodson's rotations leave a LOT to be desired, so whoever starts or finishes is almost irrelevant with this team because his substitution patterns are real head-scratchers anyway. So with that said, I could care less who starts and who finishes...just win the damn game.

Perhaps the question should be, Would you bench Andrea Bargnani today?

Woodson only likes to play ISO guys, so there's your answer.... He's a Woody alright, a morning Woody!!

brookdon

Wow. Even across the board so far.

I voted no simply just because he's fresh off of injury, but I can see a good case for all three options.

Mr.Boots
Mr.Boots

Yes because with STAT and K Mart out, Bargs have to come off the bench and be the back-up five since Tyler and Aldrich can't give extended minutes there and Chandler can be foul-prone.

Starting Prigs would  be mean sitting Bargs a low IQ player. Bargs should be used only in situations in which he can succeed.  He has very little confidence and needs to be built up. Woodson the bully is not the right person for doing this.

@onewhoknix Yet another demonstration as to how Woodson does not know how to manage his players. Last season the team had shooters, so it was a possbility to chuck 'em up.

This season our best weapons have been the P&P and P&R, which are two plays that, well, our "coach" doesn't deem necessary to run that often. Why do that when you can hoist 30 3's a game, right?

knickgirl35
knickgirl35

@onewhoknix the knicks "playbook" is so predictable. that makes the opposing team's game plan very easy for them and the opposing coach has to make very simple adjustments because he knows mw can't counter. ray is too indecisive and he dribbles while trying to decide what to do meanwhile wasting all kinds of time. there should be a stat of how many minutes ray actually wastes.

@onewhoknix couple that with what Clyde calls 'matador defense' knicks are horrible! Hey Woody, where's the help...

Not sure you can call 40 games or so an "era" ...more like a short stretch... but I get your point ...it was fun while it here. Now, not so much.

Last season was fun. Too bad half this blog bitched about a team that won 54 games instead of remembering what it's like to suck.

@buddhabing disagree.  Go with your best. Last year, Chandler, Melo, Shumpert, Felton, and Priglioni was the best lineup we used.  Time to go back to that.

onewhoknix

@Dave Nestle Seriously, man. I feel like he doesn't understand how much of an opportunity this season was for him. Supposed to be his breakout year on a team that desperately needs another scorer and the guy cant even take more than 5 shots a game. He says confidence isn't an issue but it is bull. Watch any game from his rookie season and notice the aggression.

onewhoknix

@Knicks_Fanatic Andrea has been damn awful and doesn't belong in the starting lineup. Put Melo at the 4 and Tyson at the 5 with Tyler getting increased minutes. We need guys that can run because our halfcourt offense is terrible.

@brookdon This is why I voted no myself.  But down the line for sure depending how he reacts to injury but knowing woody doesnt mean anything.

@tifoso6 i think mw has managed to lower all of the players confidence. he sure hasn't boosted it.

Wayne Gee

@tifoso6 i hear you but shump is giving us two points a game. .and his man is scoring way more points than bargs man has been scoring

onewhoknix
onewhoknix

@Tomas Seriously. During that Clippers game, Melo shot downright awful and there is no disputing that. What was crazy was how many times he got a pass with just two seconds left on the shotclock cause we didn't set up a damn thing and everyone panics and gives him the ball from way outside!

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@onewhoknix@Dave Nestle

Shump was much better in D'Antoni's system where he could use his speed and athleticism more fully than Woody's ISO style.Woody's conservative approach and his desire to keep turnovers down forces players to pass less and isolate as it always results in a shot.

tifoso6
tifoso6

@Wayne Gee @tifoso6 the shame of it is woodson is such a bully Shump is looking over his shoulder all the time waiting for the scream from the coach.

It was, but if you were on this site everyday, you'd have thought it was no different than this season.

@Kiyan Carter Tyson is the problem and not Bargnani? Holy cow this season has everyone going nuts. Bargnani has proven nothing besides being a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. Tyson has won a championship as a starting center. Tyson was part of our team that had a much better record last year as the starting center. Bargnani if he plays so well without Tyson needs to stay on the second unit. Also he needs to stop shooting 3's in general because he has been open all year shooting 30%

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@Kiyan Carter

Or else the problem is that Bargnani isn't the floor stretching player that we were told we were getting.
