What's Up With Landry?

Is Landry Fields a product of the system and not complimentary player or has he, in fact, hit the dreaded rookie wall?

Both.

Of all the players who have had to figure out the offense, it is Fields who seems the most lost. Mike D’Antoni had limited his minutes since the trade and when he tried to get him to play 35 against the Celtics, Fields responded dreadfully.

I think it’s fair to say when the ball was moving around the perimeter, Fields played off his other teammates well and took advantage of space. He also showed an innate ability to read long rebounds and create second chance opportunities.

He’s not making nearly as many of those plays. Frankly, I’d like to see Fields dive to the basket instead of standing on the perimeter. I think he is much more of a well-rounded offensive player who can get easy hoops around the basket by moving himself. Last night Fields had a good start and got yanked in the first quarter with 5 points in 6 minutes and got yanked.

Like the entire roster, Fields seems to be struggling at this stage of the season and I think it’s a combination of offensive uncertainty and fatigue.

I don't trust Farnsworth to last as the closer. I don't trust Valverde, PERIOD! Black needs to get back to Queens as soon as possible.

"... I actually switched back to my old mechanics which is what I had the first four outings after being traded and then we changed it up a little bit. ... That’s my natural pitching style."

Why oh Why does Warthen and Collins thinks it's necessary to change these pitcher's mechanics.  They also changed Wheeler's wind-up after his second start - mind boggling.  Nice going there Danny-boy another pitcher you screwed-up/screwed-over.  I notice he only does it to the pitchers who are desperate to remain in the Majors or make the Majors and not the veteran pitchers.  STOP it Warthen just STOP it.  The pitcher the team wants and expects is the pitcher with said mechanics that was successful in the minors. NOT your version of a pitcher - not everyone fits the same mold.

Let's not forget if Warthen was so good at mechanics and pitching why did he only go 12-21 in his major league career. SMH.

If Black is throwing 98-101, I'd like to see him back ASAP.

@Joe Wenzel Can the Mets trade Warthen and a coach to be named later to the Braves for Roger McDowell?

Second round pick.

He suffered serious shoulder injury resulting in early retirement after multiple efforts to overcome.

@Daniel Lots of guys in the minors can throw 98.  If you can't throw strikes you're not going to get major league hitters out.

But given the state of the Mets pen, I'm sure we'll see Black soon and he'll probably get the chance to close as well.

@jamets Not 101 though. His command doesn't have to be great with velocity in the upper 90s.
