Meet the Staff: Contributor, Amit Badlani

Amit Badlani

If you’re a Mets fan, you may be familiar with the work I did over on MetsBlog last season. Since then, I’ve graduated from Fordham University and completed my stay with WFUV Sports. At the radio station, I covered all eight major New York sports teams, including the Knicks for the 2011-2012 season.

Through the reporting experience I had at WFUV, I encountered some really cool guys in the media. I met Matt Cerrone and Andrew Vazzano while covering the Mets, and I met Tommy Dee at MSG while covering my first Knicks game. I have to thank them all for inviting me to contribute here.

My fanhood for the Knicks has grown while doing all this reporting (which is weird to me considering I’m no longer a fan of the Mets after covering them for three years). I even asked for a Steve Novak jersey for Christmas only to be disappointed when the they traded him last month, although I see the move for Bargnani was a good one when you don’t consider the draft picks, but that is a blog post for another time.

Anyway, I look forward to teaming up with Harris, Sam, and Ben to make TKB 2.0 the place to be (at least on the web) for Knicks fans to go to for news and analysis.

Gee, $229 million being spent on a renovation. Why the heck couldn't they do this and have the Islanders stay there in a nice freshly renovated arena? Just like what the Rangers did at MSG.

sounds like strome had a really strong game last night (with 10 shot attempts), and bailey did not, despite logging a ton of ice time.

season starts in less than a week!!

are the Islanders still going to play some games at the renovated Coliseum?

So let's see. The Coliseum has needed renovations for years but it takes the team moving to get it done? I think it smells like a lot of hands are in each other's pockets somehow. Just my opinion.

@puck- plus the place will hold far fewer people then right now. The seating capacity is being reduced. The team is never coming back to that arena to play regular season games.

@puckdad99  Because they are not spending $229 on the renovation -- only less than $90 million. The rest of the money is for the other development around the Coliseum. Plus the Rangers spent somewhere around $1 billion on that project. Details do matter.

A strong game maybe because he was playing his position with solid vet linemates. To be fair Strome said he had a talk with the coaching staff and admitted he needed to hear what they said.

@ Paul- preseason only.. Regular season requires approval of owners and NHLPA. plus the seating cap at the new NVMC will be severely reduced.

2nd is much cooler then 1st in 2014. Please don't congratulate me Islander fans, you could donate to my charity of choice, but I don't have any family being paid by "Non-Profits". Any update on de Haan's injury? If it is serious (I have no clue) that could force Garth's hand in trading a valued forward for a top 4 D-Man.

@isles23 i read that he played both wing and center last night, and played well at both spots.  also read that cappy did have a conversation with him and said that strome wasnt going through the motions, but there was another level to his game which showed last night.  i think hes gonna make this team and will hopefully contribute immediately.  i think that sometimes these younger guys try to play a more conservative role in order to limit their mistakes.  with strome, i want him to play aggressive.  he has too much talent to take a conservative approach.

That's what I said last yr, I thought he had talent, but wasn't sure if his demeanor was more like a Bailey or more like JT's.  I am very happy with what I seen from him since his recall last yr.  I think we have a VERY good Center in the making. ( JT jr )
