Recap: Knicks 111 Bucks 107
In the biggest game of the year, the Knicks came through down the stretch and hit big shots. JR Smith’s 3 pointer with 1:04 remaining would give the Knicks the lead for good. The Knicks had great closeout defense in the final minute preventing the Bucks from getting a quality look from the outside.
This was a crazy game as the first half was very high scoring as it was tied at 62 apiece. The game very much resembled a street ball game with the pace. The Bucks guards had huge nights with Monta Ellis going for 35 points and 10 assists and Brandon Jennings had 22 point and 7 assists.
The Knicks hung in there all night as this game had a lot of lead changes. The intensity picked up as the game went along.
Once again Carmelo Anthony led the way with 32 points on 13-26 shooting and 10 rebounds.
Tyson Chandler helped out on offense not missing a shot on the night (6-6 from the field and 7-7 from the line) for 19 point and 11 rebounds.
Iman Shumpert had 16 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists as well as 3 steals.
The Knicks got production from the bench with JR Smith scoring 14 points and Steve Novak breaking out of his funk with 10 point including 2 huge 3’s.
The Knicks did everything they had to tonight. Both JR Smith and Steve Novak hit big shots in the fourth quarter. The Knicks hit their free throws as they were 23-27 on the night, which is the best I can remember them shooting in quite some time. They needed all of them tonight.
The Knicks won the rebounding battle 42-39 which was huge. Mike Woodson was yelling during the timeouts “One shot and we gotta get the rebound”. I love that.
Great, great win by the Knicks. This was the game of the year for the Knicks as this was a must, must win on the road. The Knicks are now 2 games up on Milwaukee with the playoff tiebreaker now going to Conference record which the Knicks are ahead with a 23-18 record versus Milwaukee at 21-19.
It’s back to the Garden Friday night for the Knicks as they face the hapless Washington Wizards before a Sunday showdown against the Miami Heat.
Let’s enjoy this one folks!
