Source: Knicks Not Involved in Howard Talks

I just spoke to a source close to the Magic and Dwight Howard trade situation in regards to any Knicks involvement. The answer was blunt.
“Not at all,” the source said when I asked if the Knicks were in engaged in ANY sort of dialogue to try and trade Howard to New York. “There is zero dialogue.”
While it appears that it’s a foregone conclusion Howard is destined to head to Brooklyn, I’m told, the Magic prefer to send Howard to the Western Conference and that stalemate has been going on since before the trade deadline. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but this does appear to be Carmelo Anthony part two.
As of right now there is zero reason to believe that the Knicks will actively pursue the Magic center in a trade. I did find it interesting that there didn’t appear as if the Magic scoff at the idea of what the Knicks can offer, which could include Tyson Chandler, Amar’e Stoudemire, Anthony and Iman Shumpert. It appeared as if it was the Knicks who weren’t inquiring about the possibility of a deal.
As we’ve seen time and time again, things in the NBA move really fast, but for now this is your real time update.
