Carmelo Anthony was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week after he helped lead the Knicks to a 3-1 mark, averaging a league-best 29.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.
Anthony scored over 30 points in two contests. In New York’s 106-99 home victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, Anthony scored a game-high 34 points, and added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.
“I’m healthy,” Anthony said Sunday when talking about the “MVP” chants he received at Madison Square Garden. “Not make any excuses on last year but I wasn’t 100 percent healthy. I’m healthy this year. As a team we’re healthy and we’re winning basketball games and we’re doing it in a great fashion.”
