“I’m told that Joakim said to Melo, ‘Look, you could go to Los Angeles. But if you want to win a ring, if you want your legacy to be about winning, come to Chicago,’” Broussard said.
“Melo, I’m told, said, ‘Look, I’ve been watching you guys. I admire how hard you play. I admire how hungry you are. And oh by the way, my son’s favorite player is, Derrick Rose.’ So he was not committal as far as committing to the Bulls but it seems like it may have intrigued him a bit.”
Broussard said the Bulls would have to amnesty Carlos Boozer and could then offer Anthony $15 million a year. If they trade Mike Dunleavy, they could offer Anthony $18 million per year.
Anthony stands to make $129 million over five years with the Knicks, or $96 million over four years with another team.
Anthony admitted to being intrigued by signs in Chicago that read, “Melo to Chicago.”
