Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo has small tear in labrum, season over

Carmelo Anthony has a small tear in his right labrum muscle, the Knicks announced.

He will not need surgery. He will be reevaluated in a month.

He will not play again this season.

Carmelo had 27.4 points, 3.1 assists and 8.1 rebounds per game during the 2013-14 season.

Last season, Anthony’s season ended with a tear in his left shoulder. This season, it was ended by a tear in his right shoulder.

Harris Decker

It’s sad that there’s a chance, however slight, that we’ve now seen Anthony’s last game in New York.

That said, I believe he will be a Knick next year. He needs to get treatment as soon as possible so that he can play on opening day of next season.

If the Knicks were smart, they'd cut ties with Carmelo.  No way he's worth $130 mm going forward with tears in his left & right shoulders and at age 31.  No way.  I say rebuild, but I know Dolan with throw $130 mm at him....

"Opening day" not really a basketball term...more like "season opener"... But..yea..needs to get healthy to play game 1 of 82.

Getting hacked nearly every time down the court takes its toll.

Another note. Interesting how awesome JR looks when there is NOTHING on the line?

Call me whacky but since Stat is going to be an important piece of the knicks next season and since he is so physically delicate, i'd sit him for the next two meaningless games.

Not that it makes much of a difference but since this is after the game thread is everyone using this or the actual game thread?

Same as last year? Wouldn't it be time for surgery now? Like right now! So he's ready for camp, assuming he's still a Knick.
