Chandler, Stoudemire to play Saturday

Adam Zagoria, Team Reporter

Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire will both play Saturday when the Knicks try to win their sixth straight game against the NBA-worst Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden.

“Amar’e will play tomorrow and Tyson will be playing tomorrow as well so I’m happy about that,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said Friday.

The Knicks enter today 3 1/2 games back of Atlanta for the No. 8 seed in the East.

Chandler has missed two games for a family illness, while Stoudemire missed Wednesday’s game in Boston as a recovery day.

“Yeah, it’s great,” Stoudemire said of the time off. “Not only for myself. But as a team we got two days off of rest and recovery so it works out well for us. Going into an early game tomorrow, we gotta make sure we bring that intensity from the start but we should be OK.”

Stoudemire said he would like to play every night — especially during the winning streak — but understands his body needs the rest.

“Yeah, absolutely, I mean, you want to play every night,” he said. “But it’s very important to recover your body, especially from what I’ve been through from an injury standpoint. You want to make sure you take the precautionary measures and do everything you can to prolong your high play.”

The Knicks have struggled with noon starts, but Stoudemire believes the team will be ready for the Bucks.

“Well, I think tomorrow we just gotta get off to a great start, have a high confidence,” he said. “We understand what it takes to win now. We got a great pace about ourselves offensively. We’re doing a phenomenal job defensively out there as well so we’re pretty confident about tomorrow’s game.”

Scary how bad the eastern conference has been that the Knicks are still in this. If the Knicks had a first round pick, I'd be rooting for them to lose, but because they don't? Might as well just enjoy the ride. Best basketball we've seen from the Knicks this year.

Would like to see Earl Clark get some meaningful minutes...His skill set suggest that he can help on both ends of the floor. I would move him ahead of Taylor in the rotation.

@ESPNSteinLine: RT @NYDNInterNets: Asked Paul Pierce for his reaction to Phil joining Knicks: "I don't talk about the Knicks. No Knicks questions. Ever."

Still bitter we knocked him out of boston lol

@kofi  Taylor? There is no Taylor on the Knicks roster. Mo Taylor played for them around 2005.  What you smoking?

@Biggie  I was thinking the same thing.  Why else would Kobe put the whole Laker organization on blast the other day, than to try to force his way out.  He already said that he did not want to be part of a rebuilding project with the Lakers next year.  So, I will not be as surprised as some others.

Wow, another day, another delusional comment from Biggie.

I agree...I'm impressed with how fast he's picked up the defense. He has the ability to switch, & be effective on most positions.

@brookdon

If they were smart, they'd do it just so they could get rid of Kobe's contract.

Just as if the Knicks were smart, they'd trade Melo just so they don't pay him 130 mil.

Both aren't smart though.

@Lee Lewin @chudogz  You're supposed to use an apostrophe for 'its', son.  I'm pretty sure the point is to be able to trade Amare/Tyson after the season.

@Lee Lewin... I wasn't aware we were competing in a spelling bee? You are supposed to put a period at the end of your sentence, also! Your also not supposed to use a capital letter unless it's being used at the beginning of the sentence, or if it's being used in a noun. The comment was referring to Tyson and Amare playing on Saturday. Hopefully they play well, raising THEIR trade value for next season. Have a great day!

@sandro. And you're smart?

@ Sandro. We can still hope he takes a "paycut" tho... Then I would be happy, how about you?

@po_diddley. Thank you. He's good at spelling, but not punctuation, or reading comprehension! Go Knicks
