Final Score: Knicks 107 – Cavaliers 97

The Knicks beat the Cavaliers 107-97.

Despite a cold, Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks to a solid victory with 26 points. He was horrible in the opening minutes, starting 0 for 6 before turning his night around later in the first half. It was a gritty performance.

Amare Stoudemire was brilliant, recording 17 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. He and Tyson Chandler played off each other on a few put backs and really asserted themselves on the boards.

The Knicks did a great job slowing down the supporting cast of the Cavs. Most importantly, they held Luol Deng to just 10 points on 3 of 12. Deng has hurt the Knicks and more importantly, Anthony in the past. Kyrie Irving did have 30 points in loss.

Tyson Chandler added his third double-double in a row with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Knicks play the 76ers on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

HUGE WIN............ said no one ever!!!!! It's about time we beat the Cavs..........I think Phil Jackson sent over a gallon of ZEN juice...... Should be running out shortly...... The team must know WoodRow is finally on his way out, so they are playing with a little enthusiasm..... I finally watched a game in HOOTERS, looks like I know where I'm watching the rest of the games this season ;) GO KNICKS

I see some of the dark haze getting ready to move along and our Knicks begin the quest to get it right.

Thank You STATues, your rmax money slot will surely be appreciated after next year.

Thank You Melo,  You did the best you know how so good luck with the Bulls or LA.

Thank You Woody, the first year was fools Gold but now take your money and enjoy your retirement.

Thank you Felton, you remind us what a PG should be and should not be.

Thank you JR, no way Phil appreciate your b-ball IQ so try to follow Melo again to the Bulls or LA

Thank You AB, Maybe Phil can make you useful in a scheme he wants here if not, Arrivederci!

Thank you Dolan, If you pull this off and let Phil have control, we may be able to forget all the other bad judgements.

Finally, Thank You Herb and Mills, You can now move to other positions in the organization like installing Cablevision Optimum.

Am I dreaming or is this the new reality for us!  If I'm dreaming, don't wake me up!

First order of business: FIRE WOODY

Bringing in Phil is the one move they could make that allows Melo to sign his max contract and still look sincere. I'm not knocking the move, just an honest assessment. I wish he was coming here to coach this team, but at least no one will have to worry about Dolan interfering in player moves. Jax doesn't seem like a guy who would jump into this simply for a pay day.

Yes more of wins like this is imperative. We need to step on these below .500 teams like.roaches, sneak into 8th and shock the world.

Knicks played great defense tonight. Only Irving scored with any consistency. J.R. and Amare were my two stars for the night. If K-Mart comes back soon, we'll be even tougher and smarter down the stretch.

@Seth Nadler

LeFlop had a choice to come to NY or Miami and he spit on the face of the Knicks and the Knicks fans who was begging him to let them sniff his jock! I guess your still fantasizing about sniffing LeFlop's jock and would like the opportunity of having him spit on your face again!

@Seth Nadler He never had to do it because he was just the coach.  Getting LBJ would be a rebuild and I doubt Melo will be around so it will be a rebuild just not from total scratch.

Seth Nadler
Seth Nadler

He still might, not next year because it will be a rebuild year. However he might convince Melo to opt in, and then coach in 2015

lindro88

He's coming. I didn't know how they'd sell Melo to allow him to take the 127m and still look sincere, but they found a way. Hopefully Phil Jackson is as good at buying the groceries as he was at cooking the meal.

@Seth Nadler YAAAAY Phil is coming with a broom to sweep out the mess. I hope he bring some good people with him because I hear he's not as detail on players as Riley is.

@smiggybalz Riley was a newbie at Miami.  He's done pretty well.  Don't underestimate what having two hands full of rings can do for us when he's trying to convince top players to choose us as FAs.  He knows what a winner looks like.  I'll roll the dice with him.

xmenreturn
xmenreturn

@smiggybalz Well, it's not like it's rocket Science.  Phil knows the game and has 11 rings to prove it.  All he has to do is get some good help on the salary cap issues and players available and etc,

Desperate?  You must not be a Knick Fan to say that.  Last Championship in the early 70s.  Desperate would have been appropriate a decade or 2 back.  We're on There's a 20 alarm fire going on dude.

@ smiggybalz. At one point, Pat Riley hadn't worked in a front office neither....

Jackson isn't coming here without talking to Melo first. Not a chance he takes this job without a player to build around. Melo will be back, and Elvis Maduro will be buying me Knicks/Clipper tix as per our wager. Lol

@Jesse Brand  Ha just playin - 3-game win streak, Jax rumors and everything...kinda puts a damper on us fans' anger, lol

@xmenreturn O be quiet..now ur making stuff up to fit your narrative?  How about go back to root for your team objectively.  I don't remember you in this trolling nature last season...I guess this year bought the best outta u.

@akamarb  K Mart told me he'll be back in a few weeks , seen him at a Restaurant in the city

i asked when he'll be back in the mix said "a few weeks"

preybird

@akamarb  I don't know where K-Mart is at in his recovery. Somebody better than Tyler needs to spell Amare b4 his knees start to act up. I'm hoping K-Mart's back in the next two weeks.

@MeloStat301 LOL  Some of you are just refused to see what's there. Dude, i am very consistent in my views. Have been always.

This is maybe the best I've felt about our team since before the season started last year when I went out and told everyone here that I loved the make up for the team ans had us at least 3rd in the East.  I liked the balance of last years team from the start.

I hated this team from the start and I expressed it before the season started.  I care about my team, some of you just care about Melo.  If Melo can make us a winner so be it but I don't see building around him as the answer.

I betcha Phil doesn't too or he's made a huge mistake coming here to do that!  From what I have seen and heard of Phil, I betting he is to smart to hurry up expectations by building around Melo.

We shall see!  Let's hope he takes the job first.
