Injury Report: Anthony, Felton, Martin

The Knicks are saying that Carmelo Anthony will be a game-time decision for Wednesday’s game with a sprained ankle.

Raymond Felton has already been ruled out with a strained right groin.

Kenyon Martin is listed as questionable, the team announced. Martin is battling an abdominal strain.

If the knicks stay within single digits for more than 1 quarter it should be considered progress.  No point in playing Melo for this one.  Save him for the 2 toronto games coming up.

My fellow TKB'ers, dudes and dudettes, I wish you all a happy Christmas.

Enjoy with your loved ones.

Hopefully our Knicks reciprocate.

All I want for Christmas is a new head coach...

Who causes more concern for you guys? Kevin Durant or RUSSELL WESTBROOK??? Lol

The Knicks should treat tomorrow like Popovich treats certain games. Obviously for a different reason. They have no chance of beating the Thunder with or without Melo. Not to mention, no one plays worse with a nagging injury than Carmelo. Punt tomorrow's game and focus on games they can win.

As long as this incompetent clown of a coach is going to continue to play guys these insane minutes, I'm expecting injuries to become normal.

I'm glad it's nothing serious with Melo, almost happy it's just a brief injury that can give him some respite.  Something far more serious is likely to happen if this "coach" continues to play him 40+ nightly.

Likewise, there is no way Tyson can play 40 per and stay healthy.  There is simply no way.  It's insanity.

Melo needs to be down to 35-36.  Tyson needs to be down to 30-32.

Santa is going to bring the Knicks a new PG.

We sat by a  Knicks VIP (visited by the Knicks President at halftime) at the Orlando Magic game last night.  Any idea who that could have been?  There was a discussion about "getting that jersey up on the wall"?

Why is it a foregone conclusion the Knicks will lose to OKC? They always play them tough And I'm pretty sure they beat them last year. The Knicks actually match up well with them.

Not sure if my concern in December is exactly "how many games out of first place we are. Weather we're two games ahead of Toronto or two games behind them is miniscule in my opinion at this time.

My concerns are with my team. I don’t like what I see. Coaching staff inability to grow and build Shump is impulsive. Terrible and complicated defensive schemes and call to  double every post player and switch every screen including screens set where neither player has the ball. 4/5 starters tomorrow are terrible team defenders but above average one-on-one defenders, yet the "defensive system" Woodson is stubborn about requires excellent team defenders who are smart, recognize what is happening on the floor and make quick rotational decisions which cause turnovers. This is the "system" stubbornness  that Pringles put us through for four years.

Besides above, Felton and Pablo got old quick and the need for an NBA starting PG caliber talent is real. Get Lowry & bring in Novak to help Melo and JR with spacing and get some regular season much needed W's.

We have a ton of talent on this team, thank you GG! If we fix above holes/issues, we can compete with both Miami and Indiana. However, above holes/issues are so important that if not corrected quickly can sink this team to the lottery with Melo exiting and another four years of rebuilding through free agency attempts in futility.

At times like these, we need strong leadership from the owner and GM and we have none. The fix is simple but my confidence in anyone making tough executive leadership decisions is low. Steve Mills has zero incentive to risk his job to fix it, he will tear it down, blame GG and rebuilt it his way. This buy him at least 4 years of job security.

Excuse me if I don't care if Toronto won or lost last night.

@MeloStat301 Go ahead and actually, you know, "book it" with a sports bookie.  Put your money where your mouth is and bet the house, you'll make a fortune.

lindro88

They may play them tough, but they aren't beating the Thunder. With that in mind they should not even consider playing Anthony. He's basically useless when he's hurt anyway. doubt he'll be ready to play, but if Woodson lets him talk his way into the lineup, that would be yet another reason he needs to go. Btw in case you haven't noticed, Knicks were a little better last year. So there is that to

The Knicks actually whooped them last year in OKC. And they lost to them in the final seconds of a well played game at home, where I seem to remember that Carmelo didn't play due to injury.

Different team this year though.....

We could be missing Melo and probably K-Mart and MWP as well. Prigioni and Felton are out . Aldrich, Chris Smith, and Murry don't play.

When you say we have a ton of talent, how so? The Knicks have 2 top 100 players on this roster. Shumpert looks talented, but might be the worst starting 2 guard statistically in the league this year. He goes 30 minutes without scoring. JR looks better, but he's always a bad shooting night from a 3 week slump. Forget our PGs. So besides Melo and Tyson, where is all the talent? Watch some other teams play each other, you'll be amazed at how much young talent is around the league. I watched the Pelicans play the Kings last night. Both teams are way more talented than we are. This team is better than the record, but they are not deep and certainly do not have a ton of talent.

I'm not a betting man...but Knicks win by 7...easily.

lindro88

That's not true. Smith gets his money wether he's cut or not. CAA just wanted him fully guaranteed, they won't stop the Knicks from making a roster move if it's necessary.

lindro88
lindro88

With Melo at 100% they aren't winning tom. If Woodson has a brain he concentrates on the next two with Toronto. What a waste of 40 minutes on a bad ankle it will be. Even if the Knicks show heart, and make it a game, no way they are beating OKC. Last time Melo played with an injury because he "wanted to" was in Denver last year. We all know how that turned out.

@VerySilentJay@xmenreturn Biggie is not optimismic but unrealistic.Aside fromsome understanding of the CBA he does not understand why the Knicks are floundering

@ds2488 Sorry ,wrong on both counts.Melo did not want to play with Stat and he was not the driving force of Melo coming to the Knicks.Melo would have waited for Chris Paul (and played with expiring contract players)

Walsh had a poor plan. You build around a superstar and a point guard. You do NOT sign Pringles to coach the team.NY has  been a city that appreciates DEFENSE.

Walsh did not want to make the TRADE.Dolan closed the deal and we lost a center.

Walsh did not do his due diligence about LBJ,Bosh.D.Wade and Stat.

Walsh could have brought back a draft pick had he traded David Lee a year earlier.

Neither Walsh nor GG drafted well.Gallo was drafted for Pringles and point guards were available that year.

GG should have amnestied Stat as Billups was a free agent at season end.

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@VerySilentJay@Sandro Guedes@Knicks_Fanatic

Amar'e could have been resolved with amnesty. Dolan stepped in and traded for Billups and then didn't buy him out. Grunwald then used amnesty for Billups who only had a lockout shortened season to play out. Yes, Donnie did sign Amar'e, but there were ways out of that situation.

@VerySilentJay @Sandro Guedes @Knicks_Fanatic I'm not necessarily a fan of blaming DW for signing Amare.  It was stupid no doubt, but it seems like it was a major reason why Melo wanted to come here in the first place.

DW at least came in here with a plan, a plan that it turned out was correct (trying to free cap space to bring 2 stars together) but nobody saw what was coming with the 3 queens.  This doesn't excuse Walsh's failures of which there are many, but I respect that at least.

I can say the same for GG as well.  He came in with a plan to surround Melo with a lot of veterans who knew how to play the game and lead.  And I can't say that was a bad plan either based on our record last year.

I like both guys, knew where they were coming from and elucidated some kind of clear plan.  I can respect that even if it fails miserably.

Mills...I don't even know lol.  I can't respect anyone that is wasting a roster spot on Chris Smith for no reason besides him being JR's brother.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@Sandro Guedes @Knicks_Fanatic Walsh started this whole mess by signing Amare and crippling us in the first place.

You think GG gave away too many picks? DW couldn't give 2 craps about them, handing them out like candy.

DW brought tried to sell (unsuccessfully) an offense first coach to a defense first fanbase, and made promises that he couldn't keep.

Upon that desperation he crippled us mightily and took the easy out.

DW was working for Stern, who desperately was looking for wats to right the ship, so don't talk about this "he's not a yes, sir", type of guy.

He is that type of guy. In DW's case, he's the "yes, sir" type of guy to Stern.

Knicks_Fanatic
Knicks_Fanatic

@Sandro Guedes@VerySilentJay

Say what you want about Glen Grunwald's moves. I'm not holding my breath until Steve Mills makes one. Grunwald would have felt pressure to turn this around. Mills can just sit back and not risk putting his reputation on the line.

Note the trade for Lowry that was not made and Dolan got big props for doing nothing. It seems that the GM is now more concerned about Dolan's image than W-L.

VerySilentJay
VerySilentJay

@bockers  Optimistic often is confused/seen as unrealistic. Even though you know your team isn't cut out for certain things, there's still a part that wants to see them win, and many hope they do (even though some here are just dying to see the team lose to push the bashing).

If not, why bother even watching?
