Jackson wants Hardaway to play in Summer League

Phil Jackson wants Tim Hardaway Jr. to play in the Las Vegas Summer League (Berman, May 16).

“I was proud of his whole season,’’ his father, Tim Hardaway Sr. said. “He exceeded everyone’s expectations. I was very happy for him. He’s still learning, still has work to do.’’

Hardaway averaged 10.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game during his rookie campaign in 2013-14.

Can i ask the board a question? ( other than that one)

Who would you hire as coach right now? I dont mean who do u think it will be, i mean who you would hire if you were PJ

I got interested in Phil Jackson back when he was living in Woodstock and hanging out with the hippies. He has a very different view of the world, coaching and managing people than the standard, typical coach. That's why he wants a blank slate for the Knicks. Bringing in an experienced coach, won't let Phil inculcate his values on the team. In a sense, he wants to be the coach by proxy, as his health won't allow him to travel. In guys like Fisher and Kerr, he sees people who share his values and have a similar belief system.

Dolan bought whatever Phil was selling to the tune of $60 million, so let's see what happens. Judging by Berman's article, it appears that others in the front office, don't share his vision.

I love the idea of David lee but I would love Millsap even more, I think Millsap is 10 mil a yr.

Trade for d lee for this year than outright sign Millsap in 2015.

2015...rondo, Timmy/shump, melo, Millsap n can we get marc gasol as center?

Talk about a great starting lineup for triangle :)

Miami shot 51% from the field as did the Pacers. However, the Pacers got 22 more free throws and hit 19 more that the Heat.

It's impossible to win a game with that edge.

LeBron could have been supercharged and that wouldn't have helped.

So now Lebron is tired...LOL....I guess MJ wasn't tired when he won his 3rd ring...lol...."Its too much for Lebron...too much for him"..lol.-Stephen A..

Back before we overwhelmed Toronto with our offer for Bargnani, the Warriors were talking a David Lee for Bargnani deal. Obviously, there would have to be more to the deal, but if folks are lusting for Love, David Lee might actually doable.

The Warriors are going to have to play Klay Thompson in 2015 and Lee is due $15.5 million. If they traded for Bargnani, his deal would be expiring and give them the financial flexibility needed to keep Thompson in the fold.

Now that is, if you want David Lee. Also getting Lee might be a factor in keeping Melo. We would have a second scorer and Melo wouldn't have to pound the board so much. Lee would be a good fit in the triangle with his passing ability as well.

LOL @ the Lebron pitty party...."he has so much less around him right now"-Ryan Ruocco...wow..LOL...yes..he's the best player in basketball..but come on dude, he loses one game to the pacers now the Heat have Less?  LOL!

We have less than zero chance at Love, so I don't even think it's with discussing. Minny could get more from 90% of the teams in the NBA. They could get more from rentals lol

TBH gimme a good PG and the same cast with a better coach and watch the Knicks be a top 5 team in the east. I need to check the stats but I'm sure when the PGs last season played well we won 80% of the time or more. If there is any stat guys in here can check this please. I think PG and a competent coach was what was missing from last season's team.

Off topic but this Phil Jackson nepotism thing is starting to bother me. Wait for Derek Fisher? Is there any evidence he can actual run a team outside of being vocal on the court? There's more to coaching than that.

There are better candidates out there that we aren't looking at in college and in the NBA because they won't be yes men. That's not a good sign to me.

I dont understand the K Love hype that going on here. Yea he is a very good player, but is he what the Knicks need? Its the same ole Knick philosophy on here. We need an above average PG and a good two way big.

Minny is going to want draft picks, and cap space and young players, teams like Houston, phoenix, GS can offer more, but I also know Love can decide which team he wants to go to, however as much as Love is a solid player, I don't think he's a championship level player

@BiggieTKB  Well heres my ideas. I have a 2 prong approach to this season and the future of the Knicks.

1. We look to resign Melo and rebuild in 2015

2. We resign Melo and look to rebuild on the fly to appease Melo.

With number 2 I would look to get J Smith and B Jenning along with Jerekbo for the expirings on AB Tyson and Felton. I know ALOT of posters hate this move but with the right coach it could be good because it addresses the main needs of the knicks (PG and 2 way front court guy).

Me personally would love to rebuild with Melo at 5 yr 99 mil. But i think if we have to rebuild on the fly option 2 isn't a bad idea.

Frankly, a defensive oriented head coach and a triangle offensive coordinator.

@JayfromtheFix  Coach K. He loves Melo. lol   (Coach Krzyzewski)

JayfromtheFix

Oh i guess i should say:

I would hire L. Hollins. the man might not get along great with the front office but he knows how to teach defense. Heck he got Zach to be a good defender, his Memphis team improved a lot. I like his philosophy of the game, he cut down on low percentage shots and his team shot mostly 2s not 3s. His team was leaders in steals good aggressive defense.

If u read Phil jaxs book. He has dealt with owners n front office throughout his career. He is a master of creating a winning culture n mixing matching players.

@Knicks_Fanatic  Thought about this briefly last night. I actually don't mind Lee coming back. His game meshes well with Melo's and his contract isn't that bad. He can score, is a really good passer, unselfish, good locker room guy and we all know about his rebounding prowess. He also doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time to be successful. I have a huge problem with his defense tho. We will need a strong presence at C. Also, a PG that can defend.

Any trade for love has to include Shump and THJ and Chandler just to start the phone call. Even then Minny wouldn't want two guards who are B prospects at best.

@JayfromtheFix knicks should focus on a PG .........and yet LOVE continues to be the soup d' jour !

@brookdon

There are 4 teams without coaches; us, Lakers, Utah, T-Wolves. Fisher will probably be courted by us and the Lakers. Utah is talking about Stockon and Adrian Griffin. Minny wants Sam Mitchell according to rumors. So why not wait for Fisher, if that's your man? Even if you miss out, Utah and Minnesota aren't going to get a high profile coach anyway.

JayfromtheFix

@brookdon  No offense but let Phil actually hire some one before getting on the guy. Maybe i missed it but did Phil say he is waiting on Fisher?

JayfromtheFix
JayfromtheFix

@BiggieTKB @JayfromtheFix  He is the other guy on my list. I think his players like him and he is a good defensive coach that if PJ can mold MJ offensive system he would be a great young coach

@knicksgirl35  I might be the only one but i know nothing about coach K as far as coaching goes. ( i dont watch a lot of College Bball, just my UCONN)

I've read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance a few times. Phil was greatly influenced by that work and lots of chemicals too, no doubt.

@kingofny @MeloStat301 I really couldn't believe what I was hearing...wade is really producing still...its the reason they rested him the end of the season...to be charged for the playoffs.

JayfromtheFix
JayfromtheFix

@kingofny @JayfromtheFix  Its not just the amount of points scored but the efficiency; im sure i saw it somewhere IIRC. If they shoot over 45% or something like that. Point being if we had a PG a above average to good PG with a decent coach and the same players from last season we will be a good team.

brookdon
brookdon

True but I'm not convinced fisher is the best man either way lol

brookdon

I also feel as if he went into the Kerr thing arrogantly with the idea that "there's no way anyone would say no to me". His contingency plan now is to wait until the end of the playoffs to start yet another bidding war.

ESPN is reporting that he is.

@Marvel @JayfromtheFix  Good point good sir. I wanted Kerr but not the rest. I thought Kerr is a good understanding of the game and had some FO experience also

I think Phil will handle Dolan with ease. He knows how to relate to all walks of life including Dolan. Phil is a bigger influential figure than Dolan will ever be. I believe the media will not leave this Dolan interference issue alone regardless. .. I also believe Phil got into this to detrone Rat Riley of this run with Miami

@kingofny @Knicks_Fanatic

If you can get something, anything for Bargnani, you have to consider it. You can have a wish list, but that's all it is. No one is going to take Bargnani for a top 10 PG.

JayfromtheFix

@brookdon  Dont care about what ESPN thinks. If Phil didn't say it dont worry about it. For all we know he is working diligently talking to tons of candidates that we dnt know of.
