The Knicks are looking at free agent Austin Daye for a minimum contract.
The 25-year-old has worked out for the Knicks in Las Vegas.
With their need for bench depth, the Knicks could find a spot on their roster for the Pistons’ 15-overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
The 6’11” small forward played for both the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons last season, but was not granted a qualifying offer by Memphis. Daye averaged 5.8 PPG and 2.6 RPG over his four year career. Last season, he averaged 12.3 minutes per game in Memphis and Detroit, and shot 41.8 percent from 3-point range.
Daye’s best NBA season was his 2010-11 campaign with Detroit, when he played in 72 games, starting 16. He averaged 7.5 PPG, 3.8 RPG, and 1.1 APG.
