Odom to train with Knicks in comeback attempt

Lamar Odom signed with the Knicks at the end of last season and will begin his comeback attempt at the Knicks facility on Monday (Berman, June 1).

Odom recently posted a photo of himself, in Knicks apparel, signing some sort of contract. The Knicks retweeted the image.

Odom could play with the Knicks team in the summer league, Marc Berman reported.

I hope he makes it, but realistically his chances are slim.

He didn't play at all last year, and the two years before he was horrible, was probably already hitting the pipe.

At 35yo it's a steep climb back.  Let's hope he can shake those demons and put in the huge amount of work he'll need, because he's a great player and fit.

Phil Jackson: Knicks interested in 76ers' second-round picks

With seven draft picks, the 76ers will have plenty of options in the NBA draft June 26.

New York Knicks president Phil Jackson hopes one of those options involves selling a second-round selection to his franchise for the right price.

"We have a limited amount of funds that we can use," Jackson told New York reporters Friday. "It's been prorated now to every team. You know, teams do sell draft picks.

"We are going to approach teams and ask them if they're willing to allow us to buy a draft pick if we feel like there's a player we want to have at a position that comes up."

He specifically mentioned the Sixers and the Milwaukee Bucks, who have four draft picks. Five of the Sixers' seven picks are in the second round at Nos. 32, 39, 47, 52, and 54. The Knicks have no picks in this year's draft.

@brookdon  Was it a joke or protest or something?  C'mon, there's no way anyone can actually believe that.  He's probably the worst defender in the whole NBA

@brookdon Some here compared Fields to Shane Battier and said Gallo was a deal breaker for Melo...

Trust me, you'll never stop finding some ludicrous things out there.

@knickfan2 that pretty much makes him a lock for a super max contract.   He signed a max contract in the off season that comes into effect next year.  If he makes 1st, 2nd or 3rd team ALL NBA  this year then his contract balloons to 30% of the cap

It's teh "Derrick Rose Rule" in the New CBA.

Looking back Lamar was the x-factor during Kobe and Gasol Run.  If he turns this thing around i'd be ecstatic. Been a fan of Lamar since he was in HS.

If that's the case, will Indy be able to retain Lance?

@BigChiefTriangle @VerySilentJay @brookdon

Not my point at all.

Point is, there's crazy decisions happening everywhere. I just made a contrast with a couple of opinions that took place here.

Harden on an all defense team? Stop.

- You go to a Bulls' blog and you'll find half of the fanbase asking for Thibs to quit and bashing DRose for getting injured.

- Go to a Miami blog and you'll find criticism of LBJ.

The list goes on and on.

Chill.

@knickfan2 assuming they release Scola and let Evan Turner walk they'll be around 8 or 9 mil away from the luxury tax line they've sworn not to go over...

so they can offer him around 8 mil per year.

The Rose Rule means George's first year goes up from 14 to 18 mil.. give or take.his total deal goes from 80ish to 95 mil over five years -- assuming he makes 1st 2nd or 3rd team ALL NBA,.

BiggieTKB

. of course with Bird rights they can theoretically pay Lance the max and pay the tax.
