Report: Rick Fox interested in Knicks job?

The Knicks are still looking for a coach, and Rick Fox would do it if asked, according to Newsday.

Fox has never coached and is currently an analyst with TNT, but was part of three Jackson Lakers title teams in the early 2000s amd has a strong relationship with the Knicks’ president.

Fox believes that Phil Jackson is the best guy for the job, but if Jackson asked him to coach he said he would be interested. (Iannazzone, May 24).

NINE teams have no first round pick.

Five teams have no picks.. - Nets, G State, NoLA, NYK and PLand

and four other teams have no first round pick but a second

Dallas (2), Pistons, Wiz, Pacers

EIGHT  teams have multiple first round picks

Phoenix (3), Bulls, OKC, Charlotte, Celts, Jaxx, Magic, Sixers

SEVEN Teams have multiple second round picks

Sixers (5), Bucks (3), Wolves (3), Nuggs, Raps, Spurs, Dallas

ONE team has two top ten picks (Philly (3, 10)

Looks like any of teh top ten picks can be had for the right deal.

So much for teams coveting their lottery picks

Heat  simply outclassed the Pacers last night. They're in a different league..

Forget all this talk about Thibs.   Memphis wants him for a role similar to SVG in Detroit.. Bulls will likely take a future first round pick and go with Hoiberg - the cheaper option.

Stop It Rick !! If your Acting Skills translate to your Coaching you should just stick to your day job

When Phil jax is involved the triangle is a championship winning offensive system. There is nothing wrong with hiring a coach that has experience with it. Phil wants a young coach he can mold into a championship coach. I see nothing wrong with that.

There is no rush to hire a coach. I like the fact that he has a vision n a plan for the knicks future.

Next year, Phil will bring in a few cheaper guys who are smarter n able to run triangle but in 2015, the roster will be more triangle, smart players......

Hate both of these teams but hate the pacers more.

Go spurs :)

Pacers not mentally tough enough for pressure situations

The pacers don't know how to control pace or know how to have any consistency. They all have poor attitides and it us up to Vogel to handle that. They need to play more as a team. George hill should never handle the bball.

Wouldn't mind a head coach and then coordinators. Hire a defensive minded head coach and have Jackson's triangle guy run the offense. Similar to how thibs ran the defense in Boston. Would be interesting

@Rickafox No offense but I wish the Knicks would hire Mark Jackson or Tom Thibodeau

Woj from today still maintaing Fisher is clear favorite for Knicks job, and Lakers want a more experience coach.

The Heat's coach Spoelstra is in a different league!

Not only raw, but he can't play defense to save his life. He's not what the Knicks/Jackson is looking for!

Might be a good guard in the triangle. He can handle the minimal PG aspects of the system. He is young and raw, however.

Why would you not want to use triangle?

Are you saying he could be the Knicks "Ronald Reagan?" At least he would fool the majority of fans into believing that he is a competent coach!

Like maybe Thibs or JVG as head coach and then Fisher or somebody as offensive coach (w/ Phil helping).

@Seth Plaut We need a coach who is strong mentally, physically and emotionally. Dfish seems have all of that in order. He's a capable leader, he certainly looks physically fit in fact he looks better than some of the younger guys. Emotionally he's strong. He went through the sad ordeal of his daughter having cancer. I think he'll be a great coach if he decides to take the job.

When Indiana have George and Stephenson playing off each other and together running the offense they are a hard team to beat. But when Vogel go Iso George ans Iso Stephnson their defense bogs down and Indiana becomes easier to defend. Vogel better realize that before Indiana get swept! Also George better wake up from his playing stupor. I almost can't believe there are ten people that think George is a better player than Carmelo!

@jax13 When was the last time you saw a coach use successfully the triangle after Jax?

Beyond it's complexity, it takes certain mold of players to execute it (and even then you don't have guarantees of success), and the Knicks have about 4 pieces that can fit (our wing players Shump, Timmy, and JR; the go-to scorer in Melo; even Amare because of his post presence, but none are a perfect, 100% fit imo).

- Felton isn't a solid off guard perimeter threat.

- Prigs' is too slow and release is eternal, you need mobility and a quick release to be a solid spot up shooter.

- Chandler is of no use offensively

- AB is a stretch 4 and isn't a threat posting up, something you need from your bigs in a triangle offense

Too many pieces to acquire to even consider of having a solid squad to run the triangle. Add to that the fact that Phil won't run practices and won't supervise its implementation 24/7, and there's even less guarantees.

@Rickafox you are still a good dude and would probably make a good coach! So if Knicks miss out on them then Knicks need you

@knicksgirl35 @Seth Plaut Why does he have to be physically fit to coach?  Jax himself is the best option available and he can barely walk.

Your probably not worst then Felton. The other day I saw his 2014 scouting video, and when the video showed his weaknesses, It showed a player that not only is not NBA ready but also someone who at the college level was too weak and inexperienced to outplay his peers!

Get a good pg for 3 mil next season, trade some expiring contracts, sign a few smart veteran players n the knicks can be a top team in east next season.

2015 is when the real journey begins. For 2014, the east is still bad. We could be a top 3 team n who knows.....

Fisher was/is also the head of the players union. He would command a lot of respect as a young coach especially with Jackson backing him up and mentoring him. Honestly I like Fisher a lot than I ever did Kerr from a personality perspective. Just as serious and cool under pressure and knowledgeable but maybe better to relate and inspire the players.

knicksgirl35
knicksgirl35

Fisher is respected around the league I'm sure. If Jason DWI Kidd can gain respect from his veteran players I'm sure Fisher can too.

@knicksgirl35  yea but I also want someone with some coaching experience, someone that can lead the soldiers and handle egos. some one the guys to look up to. stars will me play for mark Jackson van gundy or hollins before they come play for rick fox or fisher.

knicksgirl35
knicksgirl35

If you've ever traveled you know how exhausting it can be. I want someone whose mind is sharp under any unpredictable pressure that might come up and if you are not fit physically it's more challenging to be fit mentally. I'm tired of these old grizzled coaches. Phil knows the deal that's why he's not coaching. Don't you want someone who is fresh that can represent? I know I do. BTW I like Mark Jackson but to me he looks overweight. No offense to anyone but I want a good looking coach. Color me a shallow female but you guys dish it out at times as well. Lol
