Sam SpiegelmanThe Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls are the most likely landing spots for Carmelo Anthony when he becomes a free agent this summer, Yahoo! Sports reported.
Anthony wants to immediately pursue a championship and is waiting for the Bulls and Rockets to create enough salary cap space to sign him, according to the report. Re-signing with the New York Knicks “continues to fade,” while Houston and Chicago have surfaced as “the clear frontrunners.”
Anthony met with the Knicks brass, including president Phil Jackson, on Friday night, and Yahoo! Sports reported the meeting had little impact on the All-Star forward’s thinking. There remains too much uncertainty about the roster and how quickly the team can contend in 2014.
