Shumpert to play on Tuesday

Iman Shumpert will play on Tuesday night against Memphis, Mike Woodson said.

Shumpert strained his hip flexor on Feb. 12.

say the knicks don't land a significant piece, is there anyway shump could land us a first round pick?

Finally someone with some sense, Brian Windhorst.

He essentially said that Melo and Lebron should both STAY and not opt out setting up the biggest FA frenzy after next year.

Even if Melo left, he says Melo would have to wait anyway since the LAL suck, and the Bulls are unknown.

Meaning, we could put a team of melo, Lebron. Rondo together ourselves or some other combination.

"The Toronto Raptors have expressed interest in acquiring Denver Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried before Thursday’s trade deadline, league sources told Basketball Insiders. Denver is listening to offers for the 24-year-old, but nothing is imminent."

Someone is going to come up with a 3 way trade between Den, Raps and Knicks.

Knicks get Lowry, Faried to Raps and Shump to Denver plus other pieces!!

Dolan put himself into the corner with the Bargs trade.  They do not have much to offer now.

Carmelo said his teammates of Eastern Conference were pulling for him to win MVP but admits Kyrie deserved it.

All except Lebron who stopped looking for him in the closing minutes LOL...too bust trying to go one on one with KD.

Off topic. I don't want to sound too critical of the staff here but there are a ton of interesting articles about our team that are not linked here. Why? When Tommy was here not one single news thread would go by without TKB posting a link and commentary on it. This was truly the one stop for all things Knicks.

If the Knicks only offering beno, felton, and Shump we not getting nothing people they gotta throw that pick in for something to change I hate it but its a pick 4yrs from now none of us would know the outcome till 2018 so why not go for it

I know this will sound nuts on the surface but what about Shumpert for Chris Kaman? May have to throw a small piece like a udrih to make it fit cap wise. But trading for Kaman, you allow Hardaway to play the 2, get more outside shooting and with Kaman you get a low post scorer next to Chandler..Felton, Hardaway, Melo, Kaman and Chandler.....2 7 footers at the 4 and 5...

Knicks are just appeasing their fans by doing their "due diligence". Nobody is getting traded. This is just so we feel like they, ya know, tried.

"JR undoubtedly needs to cut down on his poor shot selection and begin literally shooting to his strengths. His one-on-one mentality not only hurts his team since he is shooting an ice-cold 28.7 percent in isolation situations but it also kills the flow of the offense. JR needs to realize where his strengths are on the court and exemplify those on a nightly basis.

His true strength is in spot-up, catch-and-shoot situations, where he is shooting an efficient 47.7 percent at a 1.3 points per possession clip – ranking him in the top 96 percent in the league.

That’s excellent. That puts him above the likes of superstars Paul George and Kevin Durant. JR needs to lessen his shots attempts off the dribble, which he attempts 36 percent of the time and increase his spot-up, catch-and-shoot tries that he is only attempting 25 percent of the time. JR is a very productive corner three-point shooter at 42.4 percent, however, of all Smith's combined shots he is only attempting the corner three at an extremely low rate, 6.11 percent of the time. The catch-and-shoot corner three is analytically the most efficient shot for high-level shooters in the NBA. Kyle Korver attempts it at a clip of 23.13 percent of the time. JR, learn from the best."

@kneggyknik

The mistake was the amnesty to Billups after re-signing him for Chandler. Should had used the amnesty on Amare and let Billups play out the yr or trade him at deadline.

knickfan2

Exactly. And that's been an unpopular sentiment on TKB. The best thing to do would be to wait until 2015 and use the money to bring in 2 superstar teammates to pair with Melo.

The only major thing we should change in the meantime is the coaching staff.

This "win now" mentality cripples our team. Why beg Boston to trade Rondo when we can wait it out? Plus, we'll have a '15 pick to acquire a player (especially if we suck next season).

@zdiddy4nyk Lowry has more trade value to the Raps than Faried does.  Also Faried has more trade value to Denver than Shump does.

@zdiddy4nyk I think the point would be to give Lowry a big guy to play off of right? Maybe Amir Johnson for Farried

@Biggie  Ouch !!! Oh no!!! That is all that's needed for pacers to get a real point guard.

@Biggie Danny would go for something like that, i am about to listen to weei right now...

@Biggie LOL, 3 firsts for Rondo?  I know they're late round 1sts, but that's insane.  I would hope to get back CP3 at that value.

zdiddy4nyk
zdiddy4nyk

@Biggie That would be a great trade for Bos.  It would make the Pacers an even better defensive team!!

@Darwin Hernandez  I agree.   There is a article in buckets calling for a new starting line-up of Prigs, Tyler, THJ, Melo and Chandler.  Certainly worth talking about although it is extremely unlikely that the coach would buy into this type of creativity.

thatsagoodpoint

@anthony G. Decesare And then when Bargs gets back we could go with Bargs at the 3... Melo at the 2!!! Felton/Melo/Bargs/Kaman/Chandler.. It's just crazy enough to work!!

zdiddy4nyk
zdiddy4nyk

@anthony G. Decesare THjr gets outscored by the man he is guarding by 5 PPG over 48 minutes.  THjr playing more minutes makes the Knicks a worse defensive team...TRUTH!!

@SheSaidSpikeWho  That' my thinking. Fans get all worked up about possible trades or firings but nothing has happened yet.

If Woodson was fired already, I could understand. But this man is still the coach of a 20-32 team, he should not be involved in any decisions the teams makes moving forward.

That why, trades at this point seems a long shot. The front office is poor. All they have to show so far for a 20-32 team is waving Chris Smith and signing Tyler.

thatsagoodpoint
thatsagoodpoint

@SheSaidSpikeWho Its probably too late to go anywhere as it is. The one trade IMNSHOOC is the Chandler for Okafor and a draft pick trade. Guess it makes too much sense for us to consider it. SMDH.

JR and Melo would benefit big time with a PG that create shots for them...instead of them just having to always create shot.

@barnaby87 @Biggie The name of the game is to win a championship. All potential moves leading up to that chip doesn't matter if its possible. The Pacers would be going all in but with great reason and as an Indy fan I don't think I could blame my management for doing so. There window is now and Rondo would make them ridiculous

thatsagoodpoint

@kneggyknik Anthony can't be traded until the summer so it'd have to be Wallace unless we could get anther team involved.

illmatix

@Knicks_Fanatic @SheSaidSpikeWho  yup....no trade > a bad trade

you can't make a trade for the sake of making a trade.  Same goes for Woody imo, firing him for the sake of getting rid of him with no real coach to replace him makes no sense at this point in the season

rkj473
rkj473

@zdiddy4nyk  This. Everyone realizes, at least I do, that Melo is very effective when he knows what he wants to do as soon as the ball is passed to him. Whether its a QUICK drive or a mid-range shot or and open 3-point attempt. That's where is at his best.

JR is best when he catches and shoots the ball and not all the needless dribbling for a fade-away jump shot or he holds the ball.

These players are clearly more effective when they have LESS decisions to make on the court. It's the reason why Felton's job on this team is obsolete because he just passes the ball to them and runs to the corner. He doesn't set them up or make plays to set them up. I have no idea why he is the starting point guard on this team.

A play-making point guard would do wonders for this team.

@onewhoknix @barnaby87 @Biggie  i don't think there window is now at all.  Pacers are a very young team expect David West.  Theres gonna be a elite team for years to come.  I think there window is in a couple of years when Miami and San Antonio aren't as good

@anthony G. Decesare  I don't care what SHump is doing this year, but there  is NO WAY ON earth I am trading a 25 year old with up-side for that aged borderline scrub center.

zdiddy4nyk
zdiddy4nyk

@rkj473 @zdiddy4nyk I understand why you would say that...I am not going argue with that!!

However, I believe a focus Felton is our best PG on this team.

rkj473
rkj473

@zdiddy4nyk  Well, I cannot say I disagree with that thinking. However, I you asked me to choose between having Prigs or Felton as the starting point guard? There is no doubt in my mind I am choosing Prigs.

zdiddy4nyk
zdiddy4nyk

@rkj473

Prig cannot dribble penetrate in the lane, if the statue of liberty was guarding him.  Prig cannot breakdown a defense and thus create wide open shots to our other players.

Prig is Kidd from last year...a ball mover, but lacks the rebounding and ability to defend bigger SG.

rkj473
rkj473

@zdiddy4nyk @rkj473  I think Prigs is an excellent complimentary player at this time in his career. I wish he was younger, but even at his age he is much better than Felton.

There is no reason 3 point guards on this team shouldn't be playing roughly around the same minutes, when the all give you basically the same thing. Felton has become a bigger culprit to just passing the ball to JR or Melo with 5 seconds left than anyone on this team. And he is our starting point guard. I really don't get Woodson's love affair with Felton at the point.

zdiddy4nyk
zdiddy4nyk

@rkj473

Melo and JR are often giving the ball with less than 5 sec on the clock to make something happen.  Their shooting % suffers having to core like that so much.

This why, I am not a Prig fan...because, he is even worse than Felton at creating shots for our other players...a PG number 1 job on offense!!
