Shumpert’s People Asking for Trade?

“There are major concerns (from people close to Shumpert) over how the Knicks are developing him,” a source from another team told SheridanHoops.com, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

“They feel he’s being played out of position (at small forward) and his confidence is suffering because of it. They understand the team is having success and it has to be the right deal, but they’d prefer Iman in another situation… And soon.”

Had a busy Saturday so I didn’t get a chance to share my thoughts so let’s start with the fact that if I were Shumpert’s agent Happy Walters I’d be pissed at the Knicks’ unwillingness to move Shump on the ball. I never understood him playing the small forward then and I don’t understand it now. In fact, I understand it even less now considering the kid’s struggles. It’s a VITAL position to this team.

Shumpert is a young player and he needs to be developed properly and this would be a legitimate concern if I were representing him too. It’s clear that there is a lot of chatter going around the NBA as the trade deadline approaches and things like this leak out all the time. The Knicks have done a good job of keeping any issues in house to this point, especially the frustrations of a young player, if this note is in fact accurate.
