Melo wont leave. Jordan is his mentor. You dont think they spoke about his brand and winning in NY now that Phil is there? I believe they have. Just like I knew when Phil first said him and Dolan never spoke about the job it was media hogwash. The thing is now, what players do they have eyes on to bring in? Phil already told the players that some of them wont be back. Being that we have no cap space that can only relate to trades.

"Coaching is about teaching," Jackson said. "And from that standpoint, people have to have something that they can teach that has some logic and structure to it that makes sense.

I think basketball experts should make a forced shot statistic. The play Duncan made on Ellis at the rim does not go in stat books but it should. If you look at the play Ellis took the absolute best timed and angled shot that he could that wouldn't be blocked. I think that stat could make lazy defenders play harder and maybe even some players could make their money off of it just like points and rebounds. Some shots are just missed but others are clearly forced and afters so many years why not give credit where credit is due. Add the forced miss defensive stat. Imagine finding out who forced the most 4th quarter misses this season! Probably someone in the playoffs

Carlisle has the Spurs playing for their playoff lives....whatever follows, major props to him. He has gotten the most of this oddly-constructed, flawed Mavs roster.

Dirk gets all the media cred for that Mavs championship, but Carlisle was the man pushing all the right buttons.

Dallas should go for another 3 and go for the win.

I'm going to stir the pot here. Larry Bird calls Phil and says how about Chandler for Hibbert.

Do you take the deal?

Just curious Poll:

Has anyone listened to the knicks blog podcast above?

Y'all think Woody has learned anything watching his old team the Hawks playing against the team he lost to last year playoffs?

But what I dont get is what is indy doing differently than the past two seasons? I see a lot of iso ball and hero play. indy never played like that. I just find it crazy that Vogel can't get them back to playing like that.

Hawks are showing the value of having a system, hawks use the same system as the spurs. My reason for bringing that up is hopefully Kerr brings that triangle system and this franchise will take off.

So Altanta, Wizards and Toronto possibly advance to the second round.... Who would have guess that?

LMAO!  Vogel is about to self destruct. He's being exposed int he playoff, late to make good adjustments and now has to turn to Super Cope.  Vogel is turning into the new Mike Woodson!

Indy did not have a meltdown. They're away and its the playoffs. I knew indy will make a run but ATL fought them off. Nice job ATL.

The Hawks are having a meltdown right now. If they end up losing this game they're done.

The game just started and the Spurs have that we're ready to go home look in their eyes.

Nets worst nightmare is coming true. Heat about to relax for a good while while the Nets geriatric crew is going 7 games.

It could become messy if Sterling decides to fight it in court, because, even if he loses, it could take years before it gets through the system. Sterling would probably die before a resolution is reached. The most likely scenario is some sort of suspension, an apology and a fine.

@Sandro Guedes On the issue of statistics, the problem is that game numbers often don't paint the whole picture. I have always believed that the most accurate way to assess a player is by pitting his production numbers against his salary, contract terms, injury history and current salary cap.

For example: with his injury history, low numbers and 14M per salary, Tyson Chandler is not a very valuable asset. Felton would make an excellent backup at 2M per on a 3-year contract. Shumpert is not of any value at more than 2M per year. Melo would be a great asset at 15M per for 3 years, but he would cripple the team at 23M for 5 years. Too much risk and too little production.

So, Paul George is a good value at 15M next year  - but he won't be nearly as valuable by 2018-19 when he makes over 20M.

@kingofny  He talked slick about the Knicks and Woodson last year and now he looks just like Woodson out there.

@illmatix True and you can never rid people of their thoughts or even hatred towards others.

Yet, there has to be a higher standard for people in position of authority or influence on the hiring, management of others, our laws and etc.

When someone can take their hatred and then spread that view onto others it becomes a huge problem.  I

It's a huge problem like institutionalized racism or bigotry that has to be dealt with as encountered.

Lol they always like to either pin the team best player as the hero or the goat, even though teams win, not indiviuals. That Mavs team hid Dirk on D, hit open shots, and had Lebron in a state of confusion. Not to downplay Dirk spectacular offense, but he had a legit squad that rolled deep and was clicking on all cylinders.

Thats was a good play. Sucks it didn't go in.

@sir_manolo @BiggieTKB  Magic and the Gug group will likely buy it (which works on so many levels), but Magic and his group that owns the Dodgers will likely have to find other backers than the ones who own the Dodgers, too much money tied up in 2 teams, one gets in trouble the other could go too,

so the Guggenheim Group is probably working on that was we speak.

This is bad for us in 2 ways.  A. I always hoped Dolan would sell the team to Magic.  B.  If Magic gets the Clips there goes Melo.

@BiggieTKB The owners and Silver may surely try to do that as you state but there has to be major pressure for them to go the extra yard and rid the NBA of this dude period.

It appears Sterling has been trouble for decades and his family or wife is an enabler. They allow him to do these type of things like bringing a mistress to the games, settlling other racists claims and etc.

For a dude who claims he cares about image of his mistress bringing black peeps to the game, he sure has a weird way of watching his own image.

That family has to sell and I love what Etan Thomas stated on msnbc last night that it would be befitting if he was forced to sell the team for what he bought it for.

Not going to happen like that but it would be nice.

I agreed. I just wanted to see a buzzer shot again. Spurs season would have been over If they lost that game.

@BiggieTKB  I read they may have him step down and give the team to his daughter and son-in-law. Also read that the possibility of them moving to Seattle is close to nil because they just signed a 10 yr lease with Staples Center.
