News: In case you missed it…

Is there a job Steve Kerr would take over the Knicks? The Lakers aren’t a factor, but Marc Berman of the NY Post reports today that if the Golden State Warriors come calling he could listen with family located in California. The Warriors are coached by former Knick Mark Jackson and will play against the Clippers in a Game 7 tonight. Kerr is calling Game 7 of the Thunder-Grizzlies series in Oklahoma tonight for TNT  and could make a decision on his coaching future by the end of the weekend.  >> Read more in the NY Post  (Berman, May 3)

So what moves (realistic ones) do you think the Knicks should make this offseason?

Would be cool if he announces he's taking the job on air after the TNT broadcast.

So Kerr giving the only first place vote for THJ as rookie of the year, pretty much cements the fact he is taking the Knicks job after his broadcast tonight.

The same day they announce Kerr as coach, I'm hoping they'll announce Melo is staying. Where could he possibly go now? Miami?

Looks like the door is open for Sterling's WIFE to take ownership of the Clippers.  That is of course unacceptable.

My 2nd round predictions:

SAS vs. POR: SA in 6. I think SAS woke up and Portland is going to see exactly what pedigree, experience, and mental toughness is all about.  Lillard and LA will have to come up HUGE to give POR a shot. I'm being kind with 6.

OKC vs. LAC: LAC in 7:  OKC should not have had difficulty the way the did against Memphis especially in that game 7.  OKC is going to have a devil of a time with the Clips on the inside and Paul will at least play even with Westbrook in the athletic dept while dwarfing him with his brain.

IND vs. WSH: Indy in 6. I think this is actually a better match-up for Indy than ATL.  WSH does not shoot the 3 anywhere near as well as ATL does.  Gortat/Nene cannot pull Hibbert/West as far away from the hoop like Antic/Millsap did.  This will limit Wall and Beal from their un-obstructed runs to the hoop.  Lance, George, and Hill are also vastly better than Hinrich, Butler, and Augustin

BKN vs. MIa. MIA in 5. BKN is old and went entirely too long with Toronto if they wanted a legit shot against the Heat.  If Lebron guards Johnson 85% of the time, JJ will average only about 10pts per game.  For all the experience KG and Pierce bring, the Heat bring more plus they have been together longer. Lastly, the Heat are probably pissed as hell they lost 4 times to BKN

I didn't know Steve Kerrs dad was Murdered....shows he had to overcome maybe the biggest adversity to make it in the NBA....shows a lot about him as a person.

Steve’s father, Dr. Malcolm Kerr — president of American University of Beirut — had been assassinated while walking out of an elevator, shot in the back of the head. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the anti-American act, though later evidence suggested it was committed by a pair of Hezbollah gunmen, following Iranian orders.

None of that was known — or mattered — that morning. An 18-year-old was processing more than the mind is meant to absorb.

Finding out Knega and Kiyan being blocked, One good thing about the Knicks season being over is coming here and not seeing random trolls posting bs and blocking ppl.

Out of curiosity, I checked the SNY Nets blog site  There is one comment made resulting from today's game recap.  C'mon already!  I understand most Net "fans" gravitate to Nets Daily, but you'd think there would be some spillover.  This is a big day for the Nets.  If you're running a blog site on the team, and you can't get any fan comments today, you might as well give up.

The SNY Islanders site has received more comments today than the Nets one has.

That's it! Boot has crushed windpipe. Mavs are done!

Even with that Nets victory, ESPNNY and every other NY sports media outlet will be talking about EVERYTHING else tomorrow except the Nets advancing in the playoffs.

@knicksgirl35 Melo plans to opt out no matter what. He wants the attention of being wooed like most ballers!  So no way that the latter will happen soon...........or maybe ever! lol  Think Bulls!

Don't they have to vote for any new owner anyways?

@Knicks_Fanatic  GS management is just absurd. Jackson turned GS into a watchable, respected team, and now they expect miracles in conference with such teams as OKC, SA, and Portland.

Moronic thinking by the FO and J West, who should be doing everything in his power to keep Jackson.

@carl hill

I would think that shooting 68% from the field is a sure fire way to win.It beats flopping.

@kingofny Don't laugh.  I believe that's going to happen.  Press conference Tuesday at noon.

@KnickelusKnickleby I'm glad though the Spurs are taking this one.  They could beat Miami in a series (should have beaten them last year).  Dallas is just wasting everybody's time.

@Sandro Guedes I wouldn't be opposed to that. I think Chandler may have some value to other teams. I think he'd be a great fit to Dallas, Phoenix, and OKC. If we can get a pick or a Point Guard, I'd consider it.

knicksgirl35

@xmenreturn  I still don't think he's leaving and we'll probably get Noah to boot. Thibs reminds me of Woody in some ways. I'm hoping Melo feels the same way.

@pezhao @BiggieTKB  If another family member winds up owning the team, they will probably sell it. They stand to make an immense profit.

@akamarb  OKC/LAC is more of a toss up, but I decided to be decisive and pick one.

I simply cannot see POR, coming off that emotional high and beating the Spurs; just can't see it.

WIZ/INDY could go 7, but again, it's that high the Wiz had getting to the 2nd round that I don't think they are going to be able to match in order to win.

@VerySilentJay @Knicks_Fanatic  There must be a reason they don't want MJ any longer. He's always saying things like "I love all those guys" and BS like that. Coaches should keep a professional wall up so that when they have to make the difficult choices about playing time, etc. they can do so without convoluted feelings getting involved. I think he made the "friend first coach second" mistake.

@lobcity And he did it for a team which really didn't have another superstar caliber player.  I have a lot of respect for him.

@pezhao A lock?  That just my opinion! YIKES!

Who says the Bulls have to give away the farm to get Melo?  How about Melo seeing that's a nice fit for him where he can compete favorably for a ring next year maybe and not lose another prime year of his career?

knicksgirl35
knicksgirl35

@pezhao  Stay in shape? Just because he's not cut doesn't mean he's not in shape. He played the most minutes in the league. He probably doesn't want to be too muscular because it could alter his shot or lifting might exacerbate his shoulder issues. He's in shape and as for defense, if you watch objectively without having a preconceived idea about it, his defense is adequate. His ball side D is good, his help side D needs work.

xmenreturn

@knicksgirl35 I hear ya!  Yet Thibs never had a real offensive threat other than Rose.

If Melo and Rose are together that would be the team to beat int he East for sure.

VerySilentJay

@knicksgirl35  Jackson has his own approach, just like every coach in this league.

There's been several reports that the FO isn't happy with the way GS played during the season (morons) and the fact that Jackson doesn't get along with many upstairs doesn't seem to help him at all.

However, a professional must be judged by results, and Jackson has delivered that in spades during his time in GS.

Mr.Boots
Mr.Boots

@knicksgirl35 MJ, as smart and as knowledgeable as he is, is a motor-mouth. Many players tend to tune that out faster than words from a coach who can get his/her point across in fewer, more definite terms.

Mel Brown
Mel Brown

@kingofny @Mel Brown @VerySilentJay @1harris1  Whoa....have you seen Dirk try to defend on the perimeter?? Looks like he has arthritis....Felton has won games for the knicks with his mediocre defense.  Dirk is flat out horrible....i would never put Felton in the same class as Dirk.  Copeland defended Hibbert last year better than Chandler.

Dirk is definitely bottom three in the NBA

Mel Brown
Mel Brown

@1harris1  still doesn't exempt him from being the worst defender in the nba.
